My Preliminary Task

This is my final front cover of my preliminary task for my still image piece. I created this front cover using Photoshop. Which i have been using it for photography so i thought i would try it out for my preliminary task. The challenges i found to use Photoshop was that it was harder to come a grip with the layering. But once i figured it out i was away! even though my layering is pretty basic. My image that i used for the background was and image that i took of the new sixth form block. This image was hard to work with as the colouring is quite boring, so the colours wouldn't stand out over the top.
The particular social group that that i have chosen to work with is the sixth formers at Chew Valley School. I have reached out to this audience as it is the start of the new term and there is a new sixth form block opening up to the sixth form. Although i have put underneath the title (Chew News)- "sixth form special" so that the reader knows that this particular episode of the magazine is all about the sixth form and not its original publication all about Chew Valley School and not only one aspect of it.
The institution that would be interested in selling my magazine would be anyone that sells magazines to schools around the country. Also Chew Valley School would distribute my magazine as well as it is about the school and no other school. So they would want to promote my magazine. As i said before my target audience that i have chosen is Chew Valley School students, but for this particular edition it would be for sixth form students, although some of the younger students might like to buy it as they might want to see what it is like to stay on at Chew if there considering to stay on. I addressed my audience by putting appropriate images of the sixth form area as it would appeal to them instead of the younger audience.

I have learnt how you use photoshop in a better way, i struggled at first as i forgot how to do certian things like layering images but after a couple of times i came to it. So now i feel more confident to use photoshop for my final print (if i decide to do that)..

As i said before the audience that i have chosen to work with was students of Chew Valley sixth form as the magazine is titled Sixth Form Special so you can tell that it is just for the sixth formers, but other students of the school are welcome to buy the magazine as they might like to see what it is like to be at sixth form. I address my audience through images of the new sixth form block and images inside the magazine of the students.
I have learnt how to use Photoshop better, I was alright with using it to start with but now I feel very confident with using it for my actually final product. Looking back through my preliminary task I have learnt to use Photoshop and how to layout my magazine better.
